Avalara Names New Chief Marketing Officer

January 09, 2017

Avalara, Inc. announced today that it has appointed a new vice president and chief marketing officer. The provider of cloud-based tax compliance automation for businesses has decided to bring Jeremy Korst into the fold, where he will be in charge of a diverse, international team that includes brand, demand generation, channel, international, product, and customer marketing.

The company helps businesses of all sizes achieve compliance with transactional taxes, including VAT, sales and use, excise, communications, and other tax types. It does this through its comprehensive, automated, cloud-based solutions, such as its Compliance Cloud platform. This helps customers manage complicated and burdensome tax compliance obligations imposed by state, local, and other taxing authorities throughout the world.

A solution that helps with taxes? That’s incredibly useful for any company, so it’s important that all businesses know their options. That’s where CMO Jeremy Korst will come into play. By leading the team through its branding and customer marketing efforts, Korst will hopefully make Avalara and even better known name.

Korst is more than qualified for the task at hand and is used to working with big-name companies. Before coming to Avalara, he was the general manager for Windows marketing at Microsoft and was part of the successful worldwide launch of Windows 10. He has also held leadership positions in Microsoft's Unified Communications and Enterprise Services organizations. Additionally, Korst has also held several executive marketing and general management roles at T-Mobile, including vice president and general manager of its Broadband and Emerging Devices division.

His vast experience, coupled with his B.A. in Economics, Politics and Government from the University of Puget Sound and his M.B.A. in finance and strategy from UPenn, makes him the perfect candidate for the job. Clearly, he has a deep understanding of marketing, finance and, most importantly, strategy.

Avalara is excited to have Korst on board, with Pascal Van Dooren, general manager and chief revenue officer, saying, “We are delighted to welcome Jeremy to Avalara…His deep experience at the marketing helm of some of the most storied names in tech -- combined with his energy, enthusiasm, and exceptional leadership skills -- make him an ideal fit for Avalara. We are excited to have him join the Avalara team.”
